Taylor Miller
Dr.
Joseph Taylor Miller, age 79, Johnson City, passed away at his
residence, on May 6, 2019.
Dr.
Miller was a native of Texarkana, AR and the son of the late Robert and
Lou Donier Miller.
He
was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam and Korea.
After serving 6 years in the military, Dr. Miller completed his
education and held a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the
University of Arkansas, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harding
College and a Doctorate in Education from North Texas State University.
Dr.
Miller spent many years in the classroom including several years at East
Tennessee State University in the college of Public and Allied Health,
and was well loved by both students and faculty.
Dr.
Miller was also a minister in the Holston Conference of the United
Methodist Church. He served as pastor to several area churches
until he retired in 2010.
Survivors
include his wife, Sue; children, Bill Winters (Wendy), Kimberly Ferrell
(David), and Jason Miller (Terah); grandchildren, Taylor Ferrell, Nick
Ferrell, Dustin Winters and Jacob Winters; and great-granddaughter,
Tymber.
A
memorial service will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Wesley
Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City. The family will
receive family and friends prior to the service from 4:00 until 6:00 pm.
